Neguko solstizioko gau luzeenek Egunaren jaiotza iragartzen dute, Eguzki Haurraren jaiotza. Eguzki Xuria ageri da eta Argi Berria ospatzen dugu mendez-mende, etenik gabe hamaika modu eta erritu desberdinen babesean.
Eguberriak (egun berri) berritze ekintza bat adierazten du: naturak bere zikloa berritzen du, pertsonak bere asmoak berritzen ditu eta bere burua garbitzen, sinestunak bere fedea berritzen du, sinesten ez duenak, berriz, naturarekin eta bizitzarekin duen konpromisoa berritzen du. (J.K. Igerabide)
Baina laino ilunak ere hor dira naturaren eta ama lurraren mehatxu gordin gisan. Kantu xume honekin neguko solstizioa ospatzearekin batera, izadiaren eta zibilizazioaren arteko talka eta gatazkak sortzen duen ezinegon eta larritasuna ere islatu nahi izan dut. Naturan inspiraturik sortu eta Maddik maisuki kantatzen dituen Zuberoako basa-ahaireak norgehiagokan ageri dira noraezean jiraka dabilen mundu ero honekin batera.

The long nights of the Winter Solstice announce the reversal of the Day, the birth of the Sun. The White Sun has come and we celebrate the new light for centurys with no stop in such a many different ways and rituals.
Christmas time (In Basque language “Eguberria”, new day”) involves an act of purification and renewal: nature renews its cycle , people renew their intentions and purify their being, believers renew their faith, and unbelievers renew their commitment to life and nature (J. . Igerabide).
But there are also dark clouds as a thread to nature and mother earth. With this song besides celebrating the winter solstice we wanted to reflect the anguish and disturbance (anxiety) created by this fierge strruggle betwen nature and civilisation.
The themes called “basa-ahaireak”, (songs from the woods) have emerged inspired by nature and we show them fighting with this drifting world.

Es Solsticio de invierno, noche más larga del año. Noche que precede al nacimiento del Sol. Aparece el Sol Blanco y celebramos la nueva luz desde el inicio de los tiempos, mediante los más diversoso ritos y celebraciones.
La navidad (Eguberria en euskara, “egun berri” nuevo dia) implica un acto de purificación, de renovación: la naturaleza renueva su ciclo, las personas renuevan sus intenciones y purifican su ser, el creyente renueva su fe, el no-creyente renueva el compromiso adquirido con la vida y con la naturaleza (J.K. Igerabide)
Pero se vislumbran nubes oscuras en el horizonte como cruda amenaza para la madre naturaleza y la tierra. Con esta sencilla canción además de celebrar el solsticio de invierno,
hemos querido reflejar la inquietud y el desasosiego que nos crea esa encarnizada lucha entre la naturaleza y la civilizazión. Las “basa-ahaireak”, melodías zuberotarras inspiradas en la naturaleza y que Maddi las canta con maestría, se muestran aquí en firme contraste con este mundo que sigue girando en una loca espiral sin rumbo.
